Inevitable

Poetry by Jaimie

Looking in this murky water,
I see who I have become.
A forever devoted daughter,
Lost in life’s deafening hum.

No longer do I laugh or play;
Instead am chained to a life not my own.
Dreaming of a life for another day,
A life screaming in a frantic tone.

No longer do I sleep at night;
Instead am still in wake.
Unfairly forced to continue the fight,
The fight eagerly awaiting daybreak.

Looking back from my reality,
I see a life I hate.
Yet another cruel fatality,
Brought by an inevitable fate.

Remembrance

Poetry by Jaimie

And unto him I whispered, “It can’t be over...”
Staring into his face I found the cold.
And into the darkness I pleaded, “But you promised forever.”
His arms around me never to hold.

Remembering the days gone past,
And how I felt that magic.
Believing in a love forever to last,
And now only wanting it back.

Watching as the tears fall from my eyes,
And onto my face they stain.
Happiness shrouded in the lies,
Seemingly never to smile again.

And in the wake of all the pain I find,
Myself wondering if I'm trying to keep,
Something that has only been mine,
In the world I escape to when I sleep.

For my Grandmother, Daisy McFadden

Poetry by Jaimie

God must be busy getting ready for you,
At His kingdom in the sky.
God must be busy getting ready for you,
As He waits for the day to arrive.

God must be busy getting ready for you,
See the curtains of gold and white?
God must be busy getting ready for you,
See the blankets black as night?

God must be busy getting ready for you,
See the mirror crystal and clear?
God must be busy getting ready for you,
See there is nothing to fear?

God must be busy getting ready for you,
The Angels all lined up and excited.
God must be busy getting ready for you,
Tension filling the quiet.

God must be busy getting ready for you,
With your family and friends around.
God must be busy getting ready for you,
No, you won’t let us down.

God must be busy getting ready for you,
Time’s coming to relieve the pain.
God must be busy getting ready for you,
Time to receive the Lord’s name.

God must be busy getting ready for you,
It’s your time to rest in peace.
God must be busy getting ready for you,
He has everything you need.

Dear Grandma

Poetry by Jaimie

Dear Grandma, how are things up there?
Are you happy and full of joy?
Is the wind dancing with your hair?
Is the sunshine filling the void?

Dear Grandma, I miss the way you smiled,
And how it reached into your eyes.
I miss the way you laughed,
And feeling the joy I couldn't deny.

Dear Grandma, do you miss me too?
Or is watching over me enough?
Everything I know reminds me of you,
How hard it is trying to be tough.

Dear Grandma, Mother is hurting a great deal,
Not being able to hear your voice.
I can't imagine how she could feel,
Knowing she doesn't have a choice.

Dear Grandma, summer will be coming soon.
How memories of a past summer haunts.
We could have talked to the moon,
We could have done anything we want.

Dear Grandma, it's time again to part.
How it hurt the first time.
Tonight I will sleep close to your heart,
Because you will forever be in mine.

With more love than ever,
 your Granddaughter

Slipping Away

Poetry by Jaimie

Coming from the shadows, a lonely wail
Of a heart too far beyond the pain.
Dying inside because she did fail,
And how to her Father could she explain?

Throwing away her life, it seemed
And everything she had gained.
Worthless and pathetic they deemed
And years full of love they feigned.

Giving into it, she finally is
Letting herself slip into the light.
Worried of only those she'll miss,
Yet willing to let go of the light.

She neither begged to live nor pleaded
From the people who never dared.
The blood wouldn't have been needed
If only someone had cared.
